Some added features make the whole grooming process much easier for both you and your dog. One of the main features to look for in a dog brush is retractable bristles. Dog brushes with retractable bristles are much easier to clean than those without. A simple click of a button will ensure that all the loose fur trapped in the bristles is brought forward where you can easily remove it.
Such brushes tend to last much longer as well since their bristles remain protected. If you have a Wire Fox Terrier, then you would know how hard it is to brush their fur. These adorable pups have a dense, double-layered coat that is wiry but not curly.
If using a bristle brush, select one that has short, closely spaced bristles. Step 2 Cut out any stubborn mats with a pair of small scissors or a mat rake. Since you already brushed your dog, the comb should go through the hair easily. Bathing Step 1 Fill your bathtub with a few inches of lukewarm water and place your wire-haired terrier in the tub.
Step 4 Rinse your terrier well, then shampoo and rinse him a second time. Step 5 Dry your terrier using a large bath towel. Once you have removed most of the moisture from his coat, you can finish drying him using a blow dryer on the lowest heat setting. A 10 blade will give your terrier a short, smooth coat, and a 7 blade will leave the hair a little longer. Never use clippers here. Clear the hair from the insides of the feet with scissors.
Using a 7 blade, clip from the base of the skull, down the back to the base of the tail. Clipper the tail. Clipper down the sides of the neck, shoulder, body and flank, over the hip line to the hind legs.
Clipper the back of the hind legs. Clipper down the chest area and shoulder front watch how the hair grows here and follow the contour 6. Change to a 10 blade 7. Comb the hair on the face forward and carefully clipper from one quarter of an inch behind the outside of his eye to the base of the skull.
Top part of face 8. I also have a Shi Tzu, this would work for both? It would definitely work for both. Depending on the sizes of the dogs, you should be able to get away with a single brush for both dogs. Hi, Thanks for sharing. Do you recommend the product to any type of dog? Or just dogs that shed. Yes, the FURminator can be used for all types of breeds. The FURminator helps to remove the undercoat — which is that fur that you have to sweep up every day!
When you purchase a FURminator, they come in various widths small, medium and large , and they are sized for cat, dog, small animal, and horse sizes as well, and then they are further broken down into long hair or short hair. I actually own the furminator and I love it! The way it works for the wire fox terrier is excellent per the video.
I brush my dog maybe once a week to keep my house clean. Preferably before and after a bath. Thanks Jonathan for letting know how great your FURminator is! I agree, with the Wire Fox Terrier, you should only need to give them a good brush with it every few months.
